Academics

OU in Arezzo offers academic courses that apply to your major

Kirk's Korner

This is the first #KirksKorner, a brief monthly showcase in which the OUA director talks about what is happening during the current semester, what's coming up next and more!

The hope is that this feature will inspire us to open more doors to the wonderful opportunities that a study abroad experience can bring to a wider pool of OU students.

Overview

By Kirk Duclaux, Director of Italian Programs

What does it mean to take a class at the OU in Arezzo, Italy campus?  How is the academic experience unique? The obvious answer is, all courses taught in Arezzo are OU credit-bearing courses. The classes you take in Arezzo, if they apply to your major, such as the College of Engineering’s STEM semester, won’t cause a delay in graduation, and if you were clever enough as a freshman or sophomore not to take all your upper-division gen eds, OU in Arezzo offers some unique courses that will work for you. This may be an important part of the answer, but it is not the complete answer of how the academic experience in Arezzo is unique!

STEM Courses

Curiosity and creativity are the secrets to the study of science. Just ask Leonardo da Vinci!

OU in Arezzo offers a STEM semester in collaboration with OU's Gallogly College of Engineering and incorporates an arts component  so that you can pursue your STEM degree while taking advantage of the arts that Italy has to offer (STEaM!).

OUA's Renaissance Art History class is just one of the offerings that enhance the STEM curriculum while satisfying an upper division gen ed requirement.
